Hello and Welcome!
Who I am
I am Naomi, a floral designer who has gardened in Colorado all my life. The land and flowers bring me so much joy and I want to share the beauty of Colorado-grown flowers with my community. I specialize in growing flowers native to our state and flowers that thrive in our typically sunny and dry climate. It’s amazing to discover all the people who also find joy in flowers and growing. I love talking with people, especially when soil, gardens, color and prairie plants are the topic.
Other flower lovers on the farm
Flowers bring us joy - of course!
But they are also much needed by our pollinators - native bees and bumblebees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and many flying insects. I marvel at the vast variety of insects and pollinators flying in and out of my field-garden. (Honestly, I think my field has the biggest bumblebees!)
Our field uses no pesticides nor harmful chemicals - this protects the pollinators and ensures you breathe in nothing but the scent of a natural flower.
Our story
The Prairie Song is located on a farm in the Longmont area, with a fabulous view of the Rocky Mountains. Now in our second year, we are excited to grow in such beautiful surroundings with meadowlark song keeping us company.
2022 - The first year
We started small, with a very few customers receiving weekly fresh-picked bunches.
We grew rudbeckia, echinacea, sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, dahlias, verbena, coreopsis and borage.
The sunflowers grew 9’ high, the bees crowded the borage’s blue flowers every day, a double-rainbow filled the sky on the Fourth of July and I fell in love with the abundant pink blooms of the Southern Belle dahlia.
2023 Growing Season
Offered a flower CSA this year in addition to selling directly to florists. I planted a few flowers I’d never grown before: white orlaya, orange safflower, and liatris, a native prairie flower and a magnet for butterflies.
Growing is an adventure every year! This year was no exception, thanks to our rain-drenched spring.
